Jim Beasley - New National Champion
Jim Beasley, owner of Spot Shooter Archery in Holly is the new National Archery Association national champion in the master senior division. The competition was held in Hamilton Ohio on July 22nd and July 23rd. In the two day competition archers are to shoot 36 arrows at 70 meters and 36 arrows at 60 meters on day one. On day two the targets are reduced in size and shot at 50 meters and 30 meters. Temperatures in the high 90s and high winds made this a very difficult tournament for the 400 plus archers. This was the first national outdoor competition in 13 years for Jim and he almost didn’t go. "It was a last minute decision to go or I was going to lose my entry fee. My schedule is very hectic and I didn’t want to take time off but I’m glad I did. I set a 60 meter national record and a total score record also." I set a 70 meter record in Indiana last year." This is something I have dreamed and prayed for a long time." 'Anything else is just from here on out is just a bonus." I thought about retiring from competition after completing my goals but after a few days to think about it. No way! It takes every day practice sessions and a lot of time that I could be doing something else. But for now that’s what I want to do. I’m going to take a break from tournaments until the indoor winter season and focus on the store that is very busy this time of year with hunting season just around the corner. "I’m blessed to have a passion that I turned into a business. I love coming to work and being around people all day that have the same interest that I do. |
